What Is Dianabol?
Dianabol — also known as DBol, or by its chemical name methandrostenolone — is the world’s most recognised anabolic steroid and arguably the compound that launched the modern era of competitive bodybuilding. Developed in 1958 by Dr John Ziegler for the US Olympic team, Dianabol rapidly became the backbone of mass-building programmes for athletes worldwide and remains a cornerstone compound decades later.
Its reputation is built on one undeniable fact: nothing adds raw muscle mass and strength as fast as Dianabol. Users routinely report 4–8 kg of weight gain in the first 4–6 weeks of a cycle.

How Does Dianabol Work?
Dianabol is a powerful anabolic with moderate androgenic activity. It works through several mechanisms simultaneously:
- Nitrogen retention: Dramatically increases positive nitrogen balance in muscle tissue, creating the ideal anabolic environment for protein synthesis.
- Protein synthesis: Accelerates the rate at which muscle fibres repair and grow following training stress.
- Glycogenolysis: Improves the body’s ability to utilise carbohydrates for energy, enabling more intense training sessions.

Dianabol Side Effects
Dianabol’s power comes at a cost. Key side effects to manage:
- Gynecomastia: Oestrogen conversion from aromatisation — an AI (aromatase inhibitor) is mandatory, not optional.
- Water retention: Significant bloating, particularly in the face and around the midsection. Diet control and AI use reduce but don’t eliminate this.
- Liver toxicity: As a C-17 alpha-alkylated compound, Dianabol stresses the liver. Never exceed 6 weeks continuous use. Use TUDCA or UDCA for liver protection.
- Blood pressure: Water retention and increased red blood cell production elevate blood pressure. Monitor regularly.
- Testosterone suppression: Significant — PCT is absolutely required.
- Cholesterol: Unfavourable impact on HDL/LDL ratio.
